EXETER MAN CAMERON DUFFY JAILED FOR STALKING WOMAN WITH DEADLY THREATS
A disturbed individual from Exeter named Cameron Duffy has been involved in a severe case of stalking behaviour. He bombarded a woman living in Exeter with hundreds of threatening messages, including voice calls in which he declared "You're dead," and "I'll f*****g kill you." Despite police advising him to stay away, Duffy ignored these warnings and continued his harassment.
By March 2023, he had sent 322 WhatsApp messages over five days, telling her not to call the police and expressing his love for her.
He also discussed his "murderous thoughts" and claimed to hear voices in his head.
The woman reported him again, and by June, he was sending hundreds more distressing messages, including a bomb threat and warnings for her to move house.
The harassment persisted into August with increasingly jealous and menacing messages, including one where he sent a picture of a dead squirrel and said he wanted her to look like the animal.
When police arrested Duffy, he claimed he was joking and intoxicated.
After his arrest and release, he continued sending threatening messages until his final arrest in September.
The victim described being terrified, working out escape routes, sleeping in her clothes, and carrying a panic alarm, fearing what Duffy might do.
Duffy pleaded guilty to stalking with fear of violence.
His sentencing was delayed for more detailed assessments, but he was eventually sentenced to 14 months at Exeter Crown Court, though he was released due to time served.
He will be under strict supervision and electronic monitoring, and he must not enter Cornwall until further orders, as part of his conditions.
His behaviour has been described as dangerous by social workers and police, recognizing the significant risk he poses to others.
