CHIPPING CAMPDEN MAN BRYAN THOMAS HANDED SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT
A 46 year old Chipping Campden man named Bryan Thomas was handed a six-month suspended jail term after being convicted of assaulting two women—one on three separate occasions.
The court described his attitude towards women as 'very concerning' and noted his controlling behavior, sexual jealousy, and bullying.
The magistrate highlighted instances where he had put his hands around the necks of his victims, indicating a risk of harm.
Thomas pleaded not guilty to assaulting one woman, Pippa King, on November 21, 2021, in Moreton in Marsh, and also assaulted her between March 21-24 this year, plus another assault in Chipping Campden between April 12-15.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting another woman, Hayley Brown, causing her actual bodily harm on January 6 of this year.
He was sentenced to eight weeks and 18 weeks imprisonment for the first victim (both sentences suspended for 18 months), with an additional 100 hours of unpaid work and a supervision order including participation in a probation program.
He was ordered to pay £500 and £300 in compensation respectively, along with trial costs, surcharge, and prosecution fees.
Restraining orders were also issued banning contact and visiting the victims’ residences for two years.
