LEITH MAN BRIAN STOBIE ACCUSED OF YEARS OF SEXUAL ABUSE ON YOUNG GIRLS
Sentencing update 30/12/25:A judge told him at the High Court in Edinburgh: “You have never been sentenced to a period of imprisonment.” Judge Alison Stirling said: “Custody is the only appropriate disposal having regard to the serious nature of your offending.” She told Stobie that he would be placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely following his sentencing.The judge pointed out he was found guilty of sex crimes against four girls who were under the age of 16, with three of them being under the age of 12 when the offending began.
She said one woman was left struggling with issues of trust and with maintaining intimate relationships and had avoided the area where her abuser lived.
Stobie was jailed for 12 years and 9 months and made the subject of non harassment orders against all four victims.
