BRIAN DICK FROM FALKIRK SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS IN DENNY AND FALKIRK

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Falkirk community, Brian Dick, a man with a disturbing history of sexual offenses, was sentenced to nine years in prison for heinous crimes committed against a young girl. The offences took place at his residence in Maddiston, Falkirk, and involved the brutal assault of a 10-year-old girl, whom he had restrained with duct tape, binding her and gagging her during the assault.

According to court proceedings, the victim, who was still in primary school at the time, recounted how she was first molested by Dick when she was in her early years at primary school. She described being tied up with duct tape and revealed that the sexual abuse had occurred on multiple occasions. The girl confided in her grandmother about the incidents, telling her that Dick was acting 'weird.'

Following her disclosure, police launched an investigation. During a raid on Dick’s home, authorities discovered a disturbing 'conquest list' that detailed his alleged victims, which included the names of several young girls and women, some as young as 14 or 15. The list, which appeared to be a record of his sexual conquests, was a key piece of evidence in the case. The police investigation uncovered additional offences, leading to Dick’s conviction on multiple counts of indecency involving three other underage girls dating back to 1991.

In August 2009, Dick was also found guilty of possessing images depicting child sex abuse at his home. The court heard that the initial assault on the girl occurred when she was in primary five or six, with her recounting that she was again restrained with duct tape during subsequent assaults. She described the second incident, stating that only her hands and mouth were restrained, and emphasized that the abuse happened more than once.

The young girl, now aged 13, provided police with written statements detailing her experiences, describing the assaults as 'embarrassing' and expressing her fear that trying to scream could result in her being killed or harmed. She also revealed that another man had been involved in sexual acts with her, and that she was warned against screaming, with threats implying her life could be in danger.

During the trial, the jury was shown her testimony via screens, and her account was corroborated by her written statements. The prosecutor highlighted the disturbing 'hit list' found at Dick’s residence, which contained the names of other girls who had appeared in charges related to the case. Advocate depute Tim Niven-Smith pointed out that the list strongly suggested Dick kept a record of his victims, describing it as a 'conquest list,' an indication of his predatory behavior.

Judge John Morris QC, delivering the sentence, condemned Dick’s actions as 'appalling' and labeled him a 'sexual predator' who exploited young girls regularly. The court also ordered that Dick’s name be added to the sex offenders register for life. Furthermore, he was subjected to extended supervision, with his license conditions being prolonged for an additional three years after his release, to ensure strict monitoring of his activities moving forward.

Brian Dick, originally from Falkirk and now residing in Denny since July 2018, has a long history of offending, with his criminal activities spanning several decades. His case has brought to light the disturbing extent of his predatory behavior and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting vulnerable children from such individuals.
