MAN SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

In May 2017, Brendan Michael Grundy, a 60-year-old bus driver from Walsall, was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court for sexually abusing his niece over a period of ten years.

Grundy was convicted of three counts of rape against a child, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of indecency with a child.

The court heard that the persistent and manipulative offender targeted his niece, beginning her abuse when she was only seven years old.

Throughout the decade, she endured molestation, sexual assault, and rape at Grundy's hands.

Despite denying the charges throughout the investigation, Grundy's victim gave evidence against him, leading to his conviction on all charges by the jury.

Several family members attended court to support Grundy during his sentencing, which resulted in an 18-year prison term.

The judge also mandated that Grundy must serve a minimum of nine years before being eligible for parole.

Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed for 18 years, and Grundy was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
