CLACTON-ON-SEA MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING PARTNER
A man named Billy Mitchell from Clacton-on-Sea was sentenced to 25 months in prison for assault causing actual bodily harm.The incident occurred in January when Mitchell, aged 34, attacked his partner after a series of provocative events.
During the court hearing at Ipswich Crown Court, it was described that Mitchell had climbed over a car like the superhero 'Spider-Man' before punching his partner so hard that she was left with knuckle marks on her face.
The victim also sustained an 11-stitch cut inside her mouth due to the attack.
Mitchell had a history of domestic violence and attempted to persuade the victim to lie about her injury.
The judge, Rupert Overbury, emphasized Mitchell's history of using violence towards women and noted that the recent assault was an escalation.
Mitchell pleaded guilty and was also barred from contacting the victim or visiting North Road, Brightlingsea, for five years.
The incident involved Mitchell trying to grab the victim’s phone, throwing a coffee cup at her, and then climbing over a vehicle to strike her with a punch, which caused significant injuries.
The court also mentioned that Mitchell had a substantial prior criminal record for domestic violence.
The legal outcome included his imprisonment and a five-year restraining order.
