BENJAMIN DAVIES SHOCKS STOKE PRIOR AND CATSHILL WITH CHILD PORN OFFENSES AND SEXUAL OFFENCES

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Catshill and Stoke Prior, Benjamin Davies, a 30-year-old man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, has been convicted and sentenced to prison for serious violations involving child exploitation and possession of indecent images.

According to court reports, Davies, who resides on Aintree Close in Catshill, was found guilty of breaching a sexual offences prevention order by sending email messages to a 16-year-old girl in Wales. Despite being under strict restrictions imposed by the court, Davies continued to engage in inappropriate communication, which ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent conviction. The Worcester Crown Court heard that the offender management team responsible for Davies visited his home after the email exchanges were uncovered. During the search, authorities discovered a computer concealed beneath a blanket in a cupboard, raising concerns about his attempts to hide illicit activity.

Further investigation revealed that Davies possessed a staggering 1,907 indecent images of young girls aged between 10 and 14 on his mobile device. These images are considered highly illegal and deeply disturbing. The court was informed that Davies has a long-standing history of sexual offenses, with previous convictions dating back to his teenage years. He has been in and out of custody multiple times, reflecting a persistent pattern of offending.

During the proceedings, Jason Aris, representing Davies, emphasized that his client had been awaiting trial since April 2014 and expressed hope that Davies could receive the necessary help to address his issues. Aris stated, “He appreciates that unless he gets some help and guidance his time in jail will get longer and longer.” The defense also highlighted that Davies had suffered abuse as a child and was battling depression, factors that may have contributed to his ongoing struggles.

Davies pleaded guilty to two charges: breaching the sexual offences prevention order and possessing indecent images of children. Judge Michael Cullum addressed Davies directly, remarking, “You have got into a spiral of living a life you should not be living. You seem to find it impossible to keep to the restrictions the courts have imposed upon you.” The judge expressed serious concern over Davies’ repeated violations and the large quantity of illegal images found on his devices. Given the severity of the case, Judge Cullum ordered that Davies be sentenced to nine months in prison for breaching the order, with an additional six months to be served consecutively for the possession of indecent images, culminating in a total sentence of 15 months.

Adding to Davies’ criminal record, he was previously involved in a separate case in January 2009, when police raided his home in Stoke Prior and discovered two clips of child abuse movies that he had downloaded from the internet. At that time, Davies was also found to have failed to register as a sex offender, despite being on the sex offenders’ register since December 2004. His earlier convictions included 34 offenses related to making indecent photographs of children, for which he served a nine-month jail sentence. Additionally, he had been subjected to a supervision order by a juvenile court following two indecent assaults on girls under the age of 13.

In the recent case, Judge Richard Rundell described Davies as “a danger to the public,” but also acknowledged that the most effective way to protect society was through professional intervention. As part of his sentence, Davies was placed under a three-year community order, requiring him to participate in a sex offenders’ group work program. He was also ordered to remain on the sex offenders’ register for five years and to be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for the same duration.

During the hearing, Lisa Hancox, Davies’ defense lawyer, explained that her client was currently on incapacity benefit and living with his brother. She highlighted his financial difficulties, including debts of approximately £5,000 and ongoing county court proceedings. Hancox emphasized, “He desperately needs help,” underscoring the importance of rehabilitation and support for Davies to prevent further offending.
