HELENSBURGH RAPIST SENTENCED FOR CAMPAIGN OF DOMESTIC TERROR
A rapist and domestic abuser from Helensburgh, Ben Slee, who is known to residents of Helensburgh, Garelochhead, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, has been convicted and sentenced to prison.Slee carried out a campaign of terror against six women, including raping one of them and attempting to rape another.
His victims also suffered beatings and sex attacks, often triggered by his jealous rages.
One woman recounted how Slee entered her bathroom while she was bathing and pulled her head underwater, laughing and saying, ‘That was brilliant.
You should see your face.
I could have killed you.’ Another victim, a 29-year-old mother-of-two, described how Slee was manipulative, causing her to feel degraded and scared, recounting a house attack in 2004 where he ignored her screams and appeared 'evil.' A third woman detailed how Slee attacked her in Helensburgh, causing excruciating pain.
Slee also took a woman to a luxury hotel in Edinburgh, where he became angry and aggressive, pushing and kicking her, threatening to pour acid or petrol bomb her and her family’s home if she contacted the police.
Despite his violent history, Slee denied the allegations, claiming his victims were lying and that their accusations had ruined his life.
The court convicted him of 29 charges, including rape and domestic abuse practices, although charges of raping two other women were not proven.
Judge Lord Beckett remanded Slee into custody for background checks and deferred sentencing.
Slee, who has some previous minor convictions but no prior jail sentences, showed no emotion as he was taken away.
His actions have led to his imprisonment and marked him as a severe domestic abuser and rapist.
