TOTTENHAM FATHER-OF-FOUR STABS WIFE DURING MENTAL HEALTH EPISODE
A man named Bashir Ali, aged 42 and father to four children, has admitted to stabbing his wife, Deeqa Ibrahim, to death.
The incident occurred at his home in Tottenham, where he was suffering from paranoid delusions that his wife and medical professionals were plotting against him.
The assault took place on November 23 of the previous year, when Ms Ibrahim visited Ali to bid him farewell before his planned return to Somalia.
During her visit, Ali detained her in the bathroom and repeatedly stabbed her.
Emergency responders and police arrived approximately at 9 pm, but Ms Ibrahim, 41 years old and mother of four, was found dead at the scene.
Ali was detained and is awaiting sentencing.
He has a documented history of mental illness and experienced delusions that involved believing his doctors were spies.
He had once lived with his family in Ealing but had moved out citing mental health struggles.
In court, Ali denied killing his wife intentionally but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The court acknowledged his psychiatric history and that he was in a paranoid episode at the time of the offence.
He remains in custody until his sentencing, scheduled for Wednesday.
