AYLWIN GORDON FROM WALKERBURN AND MIDLOTHIAN FACES CHARGES OVER CHILD SEX OFFENSES

Aylwin Gordon, a 36-year-old resident of Walkerburn in the Scottish Borders, has been linked to a series of deeply disturbing online activities involving minors. The investigation into his actions was initiated after authorities uncovered evidence of his involvement in heinous crimes against children.

On July 17, 2022, at approximately 2:45 pm, police officers executed a search warrant at Gordon's former residence in Midlothian. The operation was part of a broader effort to dismantle a network of online child exploitation. During the raid, Gordon cooperated with authorities by handing over a mobile phone. Further searches of his property revealed a laptop and a hard drive, both of which contained over 400 images and videos depicting male and female children, some as young as just one month old, engaged in sexual acts. The material included highly depraved content involving the sexual abuse of infants and very young children.

Investigators also discovered chat logs on the Kik Messenger app, where Gordon had engaged in conversations with unidentified males. In these exchanges, he had assumed the identity of a 13-year-old girl, sending images of himself to online predators. These messages included requests for the recipients to record themselves masturbating while viewing the images, as well as requests for videos of such acts to be sent back to him. Additionally, Gordon downloaded and stored multiple 'tribute videos' in which he pretended to be a 13-year-old girl, subsequently sharing these videos with other offenders.

Gordon faced multiple charges related to child sexual exploitation. He appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court, where he pleaded guilty to several sexual offences involving children. The court also heard that he had behaved in a threatening and abusive manner by posing as a young girl on social media platforms and sharing images of children with unknown third parties. His actions demonstrated a disturbing pattern of online predation and exploitation.

Sheriff Iain Nicol ordered that Gordon be placed on the Sex Offenders Register. The court deferred sentencing to allow for social work reports, with a hearing scheduled for March. The sheriff indicated that a full sentence would be determined at a later date, reflecting the seriousness of the crimes committed.
