DEVON MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT ASSAULTS AND STALKING
A 19-year-old man from St Michael's Road, Paignton, has been imprisoned for a series of violent and stalking offences.Ashley Lampett's behaviour included assaulting his partner causing actual bodily harm, stalking his twin sister, and engaging in violent outbursts.
His actions included bombarding his sister with unwanted phone calls and visits, shouting threats at her and her partner, and smashing property during incidents at the pub and elsewhere.
Specifically, in October 2022, Lampett appeared at the Olde Well House pub where he started speaking to his sister, grabbed her by the jumper, punched her uncle who told him to leave, headbutted and smashed a window at the pub, and again assaulted his sister.
He also harassed her with messages and calls, turned up drunk at her home unannounced, and behaved unpredictably, leading her to fear leaving her house alone.
Lampett admitted to assault by beating, affray, criminal damage, stalking without violence, and assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was originally sentenced to a two-year community order but breached it, leading to an 18-month jail term and a five-year restraining order.
The court noted that Lampett has a traumatic background, including his mother killing his two-year-old brother when he was very young, and that he has been homeless since his last court appearance.
Judge Stephen Climie emphasized the importance of Lampett making hard choices about his future to prevent further court appearances.
