MAN JAILED FOR ABUSING BOY 30 YEARS AGO AFTER VICTIM’S FAMILY RECORDED ADMISSION
A man from Stamford has been sentenced to prison after nearly three decades of sexual abuse allegations emerged.
Anthony Moore, who engaged in inappropriate conduct with a young boy in the Charnwood area between 1994 and 1998, was detained following a family recording that captured him confessing to his actions.
The victim, now an adult, disclosed the abuse to authorities in 2022, leading to Moore’s arrest.
During police interviews conducted by the Child Abuse Investigation Unit’s team handling historic cases, Moore initially denied the accusations.
However, when a recording made by individuals connected to the victim was played, Moore responded with ‘no comment’ to all subsequent questions, revealing his admission of guilt.
Moore faced charges of seven counts of indecent assault on a boy under 16 and five counts of gross indecency involving a minor.
He admitted guilt to all counts at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on July 14 of the previous year.
On March 14, 2024, at Leicester Crown Court, the 58-year-old was sentenced to 10 years and eight months’ imprisonment.
He resides on Lonsdale Road in Stamford and was also ordered to comply with a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a lifelong restraining order that prohibits any contact with the victim.
