ANTHONY GRANGE FROM KING'S LYNN SENTENCED FOR SEVEN YEARS OF ABUSE IN NORWICH
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of King's Lynn, Norfolk, Anthony Grange, aged 55, has been sentenced to ten years in prison after being found guilty of a prolonged period of sexual abuse against a young girl. The abuse spanned over seven years, beginning when the victim was just seven years old and continuing until she reached the age of 14.The victim, now a 37-year-old mother of two, bravely took the stand at Norwich Crown Court to give evidence against Grange, despite his refusal to enter the witness box himself. Her testimony was crucial in establishing the extent and severity of the crimes committed against her.
The court was informed that Grange, who was known to the victim’s family, exploited his position of trust and care. He was responsible for the well-being of disabled children, which made his actions even more heinous. The prosecution detailed how Grange systematically groomed the girl, gradually escalating his abuse over the years, and ultimately raping her when she was 14.
Throughout the trial, Grange maintained his innocence, denying the allegations of repeated assault and rape. However, the jury found him guilty of all charges after hearing the evidence presented by the victim and the testimonies of witnesses.
Judge Alasdair Darroch, presiding over the case, described the offences as particularly serious. In his sentencing remarks, he stated, "These were particularly serious offences. You knew her family. You groomed her to see what age you could satisfy your lust by raping her." The judge emphasized the gravity of Grange’s betrayal of trust and the lasting impact of his actions on the victim.
As a result, Anthony Grange was sentenced to ten years in prison, reflecting the court’s condemnation of his conduct and the severity of the crimes committed in the quiet town of King's Lynn.
