MAN CHARGED WITH YARMOUTH RAPE
Anthony Carroll A 41-year-old man will appear before magistrates tomorrow charged with raping an 87-year-old grandmother in her Yarmouth home.The arrest took place on Thursday night, and he is scheduled to appear at Norwich magistrates court where he will be formally charged with raping the woman in the St Peter's Road and Victoria Road area on Easter Monday.
A team of over 20 police officers was involved in the hunt for the suspect, who allegedly struck sometime between 3pm and 8.45pm.
The 87-year-old woman is currently being cared for in a care home.
Her family issued a statement thanking police and social services for their support during this difficult time, and expressed that she is receiving excellent care after what they described as a "horrendous attack." The family stated, “The family wish to thank the police and social services for all their efforts and kindness at this difficult time.
