MOTHERWELL MAN CONVICTED OF HEINOUS SEXUAL OFFENCES AND REMANDED IN CUSTODY
A violent sex attacker named Anthony Brazil, age 35, who was convicted of multiple charges including serious sexual offences, is now behind bars.Brazil was found guilty of heinous acts that occurred between December 2006 and August 2020 in Lanarkshire.
The court heard how he repeatedly tormented two women, involving rape and other forms of abuse.
The first victim was verbally abused, locked in a flat, and had her belongings destroyed, including her laptop and hair straighteners, while Brazil demanded sex from her.
He went on to rape and indecently assault her at his home in Motherwell.
The second victim suffered both physical and sexual abuse; she was raped, had her finger broken, and was subjected to punching, kicking, and pushing.
Brazil also cut up her clothes, tried to control her movements, and claimed she was the only person he trusted.
Additionally, he took an intimate photograph of her without her consent.
During the trial, the defense argued that his behaviour was 'not gentlemanly' and described him as 'self-absorbed and chauvinistic,' noting that the taking of the photograph was a violation of privacy.
The jury convicted him on eight charges, including serious sexual offences.
Brazil has no prior convictions and was remanded in custody pending sentencing, which is expected to be severe due to the gravity of his offences.
He was placed on the sex offender register and is scheduled to return to court on September 30 in Edinburgh.
