HOSPITAL ORDER FOR WOMAN WHO STABBED TWO BOYS
A woman who stabbed two 10-year-old boys has been given an indefinite hospital order.Officers found the boys with stab wounds at a flat in Fold Hill, Friskney, near Skegness, on 30 November 2022.
Ann Marie McEvoy, 42, of Church Walk, Colchester, was originally charged with attempted murder, but was deemed unfit to plead and a trial of facts took place in June.
The jury unanimously found McEvoy had committed two counts of wounding with intent.
On Wednesday, Judge Simon Hirst, sitting at Lincoln Crown Court, ordered her detention until doctors believe she is safe to be discharged.
Dr Ngozi Agunwamba, a consultant forensic psychiatrist involved in the case, said McEvoy has a schizoaffective disorder.
Officers were sent to the flat on 29 November 2022 to conduct a welfare check, and McEvoy produced a kitchen knife at about 15:30 GMT.
Officers forced entry into the property shortly after 01:00 GMT.
During the trial earlier this year, it was reported McEvoy was found in a bedroom holding the knife, with the two boys lying on the bed and bleeding.
McEvoy was tasered and fell to the ground.
The boys received first aid before being taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
