2008: CHILD PORN MAN JAILED
According to proceedings at Worcester Crown Court, neighbors expressed significant hostility towards a Kidderminster man who had downloaded indecent images of children onto his computer.A key issue was that Trudgian, who lived in a flat overlooking a children’s play area, raised concerns about his possible residence changes and the efforts of probation officers to supervise him.
The 56-year-old, residing on Witley Close in Kidderminster, admitted to 17 charges of downloading pornographic material involving minors.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with 103 days already served.
He was also given a lifelong disqualification from working with children and registered as a sex offender permanently.
Judge Andrew Geddes was aware that Trudgian did not pay money to acquire the 32 indecent images of children nor did he pass them on to others.
Nonetheless, the mere act of viewing such images—some animated—was deemed morally objectionable and contributed to the disturbing cycle of child abuse content production.
Prosecutor Peter Parson revealed that police had seized Trudgian’s computers during a raid on November 14, discovering images of children aged nine to 15 involved in sexual activities.
It was also highlighted that Trudgian had a previous conviction for rape.
Defence lawyer Samantha Powis stated that her client was an intensely isolated, lonely man whose crimes were committed during a period of depression and heavy drinking.
