2005: LEIGH MAN JAILED FOR CHILD MOLESTATION
2005: A man convicted of repeatedly abusing a six-year-old girl has been sentenced to five years behind bars.Andrew Tinsley, aged 42 and residing on East Bridgewater Street in Leigh, was found guilty in Liverpool Crown Court of two counts of indecent assault on the young girl, covering the period from November 1995 to November 1997.
The abuse took place approximately a decade earlier when the girl was between six and seven years old, but the allegations only surfaced last year after she revealed abuse from several individuals, including Tinsley.
During the court proceedings, Tinsley denied any inappropriate conduct; however, the jury reached a guilty verdict.
The presiding judge, Elizabeth Steel, imposed a five-year prison sentence and mandated lifelong registration as a sex offender.
She described the assaults as 'nasty and extremely upsetting,' highlighting the emotional pain inflicted and noting that the abusive behavior stopped only after the girl and her family relocated.
