BLACKPOOL MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DONKEY ATTACKS
A man who was filmed abusing a donkey by punching it in the face has been sentenced for animal cruelty.Mobile phone footage captured the attack, which involved Andrew Lomas, 43, of Blackpool, on Fir Tree Farm near Blackpool in Lancashire.
The RSPCA described the attacks as 'shocking and appalling,' and stated they involved cruel treatment of 29 donkeys, some of which were believed to have worked on Blackpool beach.
Lomas admitted to causing two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to donkeys and was found guilty of an additional ten counts related to their welfare.
He received a 14-week suspended sentence, along with a ban from keeping animals for three years and was ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work.
The footage also showed brutal attacks, including Bruce, a donkey, who was subjected to a flying kick but now has a good life according to the RSPCA.
Many of the animals involved were moved to the Donkey Sanctuary, where the head of welfare called the case 'extremely distressing' and emphasized that there is no excuse for animal abuse, condemning the brutal and needless violence inflicted on the animals by humans responsible for their care.
The case highlighted severe animal cruelty and resulted in the conviction and sentencing of the offenders involved.
