PERTHSHIRE MAN SENT THREATENING TEXTS AND CALLED AMBULANCE AFTER EX'S SUICIDE ATTEMPT
A man named Andrew Linn, aged 22, from High Street, Auchterarder, was involved in a serious incident where he sent threatening and offensive text messages to his former girlfriend. The court heard that Linn learned that his ex had slept with another man and deeply distraught, he sent her texts telling her to kill herself and calling her an abusive name.
He followed up with a message urging her to cut her wrists, saying: 'Die, you wretch.' Later that night, Linn summoned emergency services, claiming his ex had tried to commit suicide at her residence.
He appeared in Perth Sheriff Court, admitting to sending 'grossly offensive' texts as well as behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which caused fear or alarm.
The court was told that Linn believed they were still together after they had ended their relationship earlier in the summer, and the incident occurred after a night out in the village.
His solicitor stated that he called for an ambulance because he was concerned for his ex's safety, not out of malicious intent.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher deferred sentencing until December 17, giving Linn a chance to stay out of trouble.
