FORMER ANGUS GP COULD BE STRUCK OFF OVER CLAIMS OF SEXUALLY MOTIVATED EXAMS
A former Angus GP faces being struck off over claims he carried out “sexually motivated” medical exams on two women.Dr Matthew Jones, who is also known as Matthew Adam, is accused of conducting inappropriate examinations on women aged 26 and 47 in January and December 2015 that were not clinically indicated and allegedly sexually motivated.
The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) has scheduled a hearing to examine these allegations, which, if proved, could result in discipline including being struck off the register, banning him from practicing as a doctor.
Jones was previously cleared of criminal charges related to the sexual assault allegations after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow in 2021 but faces professional disciplinary action based on the civil standard of proof.
The tribunal is set to take place over three weeks starting February 2.
