DUNFERMLINE MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING PARTNER AFTER BINGO
A WOMAN was injured after being knocked to the ground in an assault by her partner in Dunfermline. The couple had been in West Fife for a family party but it ended with Andrew Kefferty being arrested.
As a result, the 35-year-old, of Corbiehall Terrace, Lanark, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on October 18 at Pittsburgh Road, Dunfermline, he assaulted his partner.
He threw a bag and contents over her, repeatedly seized hold of her clothing and repeatedly pushed her on the body which caused her to fall to the ground then stood over her, all to her injury.
He also resisted police officers, tensed his body and threw his head about.
Depute fiscal Catherine Stevenson said at 7.05pm a local resident heard shouting from outside and saw Kefferty swinging a shopping bag over a woman’s head.
He then took hold of her and pushed her over, standing over her and acting aggressively.
Defense solicitor Ian Beatson said: “He and his partner had travelled to Dunfermline for a family birthday.
They had been to the bingo and he consumed alcohol to excess to the extent that he can’t remember what took place.” He conceded his client had an “unenviable” record.
Sheriff Krista Johnston, imposing a six-month jail term, told Kefferty: “You have a terrible record for violence and public disorder.
On this occasion, your behaviour was a disgrace as it has been previously.”
