CHILD SEX PERVERT CAGED
A CONVICTED rapist is beginning a three-year prison sentence today after a court heard how he sexually exploited two children.Andrew Edwards, 42, of Lennox Street, Weymouth, invited a boy and girl, both aged 14, back to his flat and plied them with alcohol and cigarettes and showed them pornography.
He encouraged them to have sex and took the opportunity to have sexual activity with the girl, a court was told.
A judge said he was satisfied Edwards, wanted to have full sex with the girl.
Recorder Jonathon Fuller QC told Edwards: “You knew full well the boundaries the law imposes in this country and you were prepared to cross them.
These were children and you exploited them.
You took advantage of them when they should have been protected.
You encouraged them with inducements to visit your home.” At an earlier hearing Edwards, formerly of south Wales, was found guilty of a total of eight counts of sexual activity with a child and inciting sexual activity with children.
Edwards, who had denied the charges, has been in custody since his arrest.
The offences took place at Edwards’ flat in Lennox Street last summer and were not connected with the previous rape convictions.
Sentencing Edwards at Bournemouth Crown Court, Recorder Fuller told him he had exploited his young victims.
The judge added: “Through conversations you started with the boy and following texts sent on two occasions, they visited you.
You gave them drink and cigarettes, showing them pornography and putting a bedroom at their disposal, encouraging them to have sexual relations.
You took the opportunity on both occasions to engage in sexual activity.
“I’m satisfied that you were after having sexual intercourse with this child.”
