ANDREW DOIG FROM DUNFERMLINE CONVICTED OF VIOLENCE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE

A man from Dunfermline, Andrew Doig, has been convicted following a violent incident that took place on New Year's Day. The assault occurred after a Hogmanay party at a house in the Touch area, where Doig’s former partner was present. She reported that after they returned home around 4:30 am, Doig began arguing and then caused destruction by smashing a hole in the wall with a hammer.

When she decided to leave the house, she was physically attacked. She recounted, “I just remember being on the floor, I was kicked all over the body. He used my head as a football. I was shielding my face as best as I could, then he was standing above me and kicked me three or four times. I think it only stopped because a neighbour upstairs heard the shouting.”

The woman sustained injuries including a swollen jaw, a bruised chin, and a cut lip. Doig also assaulted her stepfather, gouging his eyes and attempting to strike him with a hammer, resulting in injuries to her stepfather as well. During the court hearing, defence solicitor Aime Allan said that the incident came after the couple had reconciled, stating, “They were giving it a second chance and from his viewpoint it didn’t panned out.”

Doig was found guilty of shouting, acting aggressively, seizing a hammer, damaging property, and assaulting both the woman and her stepfather through kicking, pushing, and gouging. The Sheriff has ordered reports and Doig will remain in custody until his sentencing on February 27. The court highlighted that he has been convicted on multiple charges related to assault and property damage.
