BEDFORD MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENSES
Dangerous sexual predator Anderson Cosma of Bedford was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offenses.
He raped a woman on The Embankment after stalking her and engaging her in conversation to gain her trust.
Once they reached the area near bushes, Cosma forced her to have sex.
When she said she would call the police, he fled the scene.
The victim later revealed what occurred to a friend, leading to an investigation.
Cosma was caught on CCTV and arrested.
It was also discovered that he had been stalking another woman that evening.
During the trial at Luton Crown Court in December, Cosma was convicted of rape, stalking, and sexual assault.
He was originally sentenced to nine years, but this was extended to 12 years as he was considered 'most dangerous' by the judge.
He received an indefinite restraining order and will be included on the sex offenders register.
Authorities noted that Cosma is a sexual predator whose actions caused severe trauma to his victims, and the sentence aims to prevent further harm.
Victims are encouraged to seek support from Bedfordshire Police and partner agencies.
