DARLINGTON WOMAN SENTENCED AFTER TOOTH AND HAND ATTACK ON EX-BOYFRIEND
A Darlington woman, Amie Hodgson, sank her teeth into her ex-boyfriend's hand and arm during a heated argument inside his home.
She had been drinking and became aggressive when he attempted to leave and visit his mother.
Hodgson took a spare key for his Darlington residence and refused to return it.
According to prosecutor Heather Blair, Hodgson initially taunted her ex before biting his arm and hand, causing bleeding.
The victim described the attack as leaving him unable to trust women and uncomfortable being alone with them in his own home.
The court noted Hodgson's previous police caution from 2023 for a similar assault on the same victim.
Hodgson pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was given an 18-month community order, an 80-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement, 20 days of rehabilitation, a two-year restraining order, and was ordered to pay £199 in court costs.
Judge Ian Neal described the attack as 'nasty' and close to a custodial sentence but ultimately decided on community sentencing, emphasizing her acknowledgment of wrongdoing and moving on with her life.
