2008: 4 YEARS FOR WOMAN WHO STABBED BOYFRIEND TO DEATH
A 26-year-old woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for manslaughter following the death of her boyfriend at their residence in Audenshaw.Amanda O'Leary, who resides on Edward Street in Audenshaw, was responsible for stabbing 33-year-old Wayne Lawrence in the stomach on October 6.
O'Leary and Wayne had cohabited for several years, but their relationship deteriorated after the death of their infant son, who was five months old, in June 2006.
Authorities responded to a call from O'Leary, who reported suspicions that her partner had been stabbed, prompting police to arrive at their Edward Street home.
Upon arrival, officers found Wayne lying on the kitchen floor with a stab wound to his abdomen.
The scene indicated a disturbance, with broken crockery scattered around and a large kitchen knife located near the foot of the stairs.
O'Leary was taken into custody at the scene, and Wayne was transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries—the fatal wound was deep enough to puncture his bowels.
Senior officer Vinny Chadwick stated that the exact circumstances leading to the stabbing might never be fully understood.
He expressed condolences to Wayne's family, noting they had experienced a significant loss in a brief period.
