BROXBURN SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULTS AND RAPES
A sex offender who repeatedly raped an adult woman and preyed on an underage girl was jailed on Tuesday, December 10.Allan McCullough attacked victims in his hometown of Broxburn, in West Lothian, between January 2016 and September in 2018.
McCullough, 38, had denied a series of charges during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh but was convicted by a jury of two sex crimes on majority verdicts.
He was found guilty of assaulting and raping a woman at an address in the town on various occasions when she was asleep and incapable of giving or withholding consent between January 2016 and September 2018.
Additionally, McCullough was found guilty of carrying out a sexual assault on a girl aged under 13 at a house on an occasion between January 2016 and September 2017.
Following the jury's verdicts, defence solicitor advocate Iain McSporran KC stated that McCullough understood the gravity of the offences and that only a custodial sentence would be considered by the court.
McCullough, formerly of Woodville Court, Broxburn, was on bail during his trial but was remanded in custody following his conviction.
The trial judge, Thomas Welsh KC, adjourned sentencing until the following month for a background report to be prepared and placed him on the sex offenders' register.
