STALKER JAILED AFTER HARASSING EX-GIRLFRIEND AND STEALING HER DOG'S ASHES
A man named Allan Crook, aged 36, from Pollitt Crescent in St Helens, has committed a series of disturbing acts against his ex-girlfriend.Crook was already under a restraining order and banned from contacting her after a previous conviction for stalking.
Despite this, he launched another campaign of harassment, which included making a sinister voicemail stating, "I've got the urn in my hands," after stealing an urn containing his ex-girlfriend's dog's ashes.
He also made a series of bank transfers of a penny each in an attempt to make contact, which was part of his ongoing attempts to communicate with her.
Further, Crook was found sitting on a slide outside her house, and the following morning, he climbed over her gate and ran into her home while she was letting her dogs out.
She managed to lock herself in a bathroom as her pets scared him off.
During the incident, he grabbed her arms, attempted to choke her, ripped her dressing gown, and tried to take her mobile phone, also knocking her to the ground.
The Liverpool Crown Court heard that Crook previously served nine months in jail for stalking her.
He was also sentenced to 10 months for assault and breaching a restraining order, appearing via video link from HMP Birmingham.
The judge acknowledged his remorse and mentioned his struggles with grief over losing a child in stillbirth about 12 months prior.
Crook admitted to the offences and apologized, but the court issued a stern warning that future breaches could lead to longer sentences.
