ACCUSATIONS AGAINST CARLISLE MAN LEAD TO TEN YEAR BAN
A JUDGE has banned a Carlisle man from contacting his estranged wife after hearing allegations that he subjected her to prolonged domestic abuse.Alistair Dixon, 45, did not accept the multiple claims that were set out by the Cumbria Constabulary lawyer who applied for the stalking protection order, designed to prevent contact between him and the alleged victim.
The background was that Dixon had been in a 16-year relationship with his wife.
Police became involved in May last year when the wife was the subject of a safeguarding referral and there was a request for accommodation.
She disclosed what she said had been “years of physical assaults,” which included strangulation to the point of her losing consciousness, said Miss Halsall-Fischel.
Allegations of physical violence by Dixon against the woman included an occasion when she was left with a “split eye,” said to have happened seven years ago.
The barrister said: “He has also been subject to a domestic violence protection order, and an interim stalking protection order, but none of these have served as any deterrent." She described threats, derogatory comments, and abusive messages from Dixon, with allegations of threats like “I know you are going out tonight and you won’t be coming back in one piece.” He allegedly offered a person money to cause harm to his wife, saying he wanted her “stitched.” The woman expressed fear that Dixon would hurt her if she left her home.
Dixon did not accept the allegations and wanted nothing further to do with the relationship.
The judge concluded that Dixon had engaged in stalking-like activities, and the order, which will be in place for a decade, prohibits contact with his former partner or going to her residence.
He also must make his devices available for police inspection, with the threat of up to five years in prison if he breaches the order.
