ALEXANDER RENWICK FROM DALMELLINGTON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CRIMES IN KILMARNOCK AND AYRSHIRE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities, Alexander Renwick, a man from Dalmellington, was sentenced to eight years in prison for a series of heinous crimes committed against young children. The offences took place over a span of several years, with the most egregious acts occurring in Kilmarnock and various locations across Ayrshire.According to court records, Renwick began abusing a young girl when she was only three years old. The abuse persisted for nearly four years, starting in October 2000 and continuing until May 2004. The details of these crimes were revealed during the trial, where jurors learned that Renwick repeatedly attacked the girl, subjecting her to acts of sexual violence at different times and places, including the well-known Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock.
In addition to the assault on the young girl, the court heard that Renwick also targeted a young boy on multiple occasions. The charges against him included rape, indecent assault, and lewd and libidinous conduct. These offences spanned from 2002 to 2010 and took place at various locations throughout Ayrshire, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior that caused significant distress and harm to his victims.
Renwick, aged 37 at the time of sentencing, appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow, where he was found guilty of all charges. The court's verdict confirmed his guilt in raping the girl, as well as the indecent assault and lewd conduct involving the boy. The severity of his crimes was underscored by the judge, Lord Beckett, who also ordered that Renwick be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community.
Throughout the proceedings, Renwick showed no visible emotion as he was led away in handcuffs to the cells, a stark reminder of the gravity of his actions and the lasting impact on his victims and their families.
