ALEX RUSS FROM GLOUCESTER JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND VOYEURISM
A man from Gloucester, identified as Alex Russ, has been sentenced to a substantial prison term after admitting to multiple serious criminal offenses involving sexual misconduct and voyeurism. The 34-year-old, residing on Craven Drive in Churchdown, appeared before Gloucester Crown Court last week to face the consequences of his actions, which included sexually assaulting a woman and secretly filming two other women without their consent.
Russ pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault against one woman and two counts of voyeurism involving two different women.
The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about his conduct, including a concerning incident the day before the first assault, where Russ was found to have searched his tablet for sleep disorders related to sexual behavior, indicating premeditation and a troubling pattern of thoughts.
In 2015, Russ committed a particularly alarming act while staying at a woman's home.
As she was preparing to sleep, he pulled down her pyjama bottoms and sexually assaulted her.
Fortunately, she was able to resist and challenge his behavior at that moment.
The court also heard that on two other occasions, Russ entered her bed while she was attempting to sleep, and each time, he sexually assaulted her, further demonstrating a pattern of predatory behavior.
In addition to these assaults, Russ admitted to secretly filming women without their knowledge or consent.
One such incident involved him setting up a camera phone inside a washbag and leaving it in a bathroom, where he managed to record a woman before and after she showered.
Another incident involved a camera hidden inside an alarm clock, which he installed in a room used by a different woman, capturing her without her awareness.
Initially, Russ denied these allegations, but he changed his plea to guilty on the first day of his trial in October 2023, acknowledging his guilt in these serious offenses.
The court sentenced him to six years and five months in prison.
Furthermore, he has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, and restraining orders have been issued to ensure the protection of the women involved.
His actions have caused significant distress and breach of trust, leading to a comprehensive legal response aimed at safeguarding the victims and preventing further harm.
