ALAN THOMPSON TRIES TO SEDUCE SCHOOLGIRLS IN TRANMERE WITH ONLINE PREDATION

In July 2017, a disturbing case of online child exploitation emerged involving Alan Thompson, a 49-year-old man from Oriel Road, Tranmere. Thompson engaged in a sinister scheme where he pretended to be a teenage boy, specifically a 19-year-old, in order to communicate with young girls and manipulate them into engaging in sexual acts.

His predatory behavior targeted vulnerable children as young as nine and twelve years old. Thompson's conversations with these minors were deeply disturbing; he convinced two of them to expose themselves and even showed them his own genitalia during these illicit exchanges. The severity of his actions was underscored by Judge Brian Cummings, QC, who described Thompson's conduct as persistent, insidious, manipulative, and corrupting, highlighting the grave nature of his offenses.

The criminal activities came to light when the mother of the nine-year-old girl decided to check her child's iPad to monitor her Instagram account. During this review, she discovered a video chat and messaging application called ooVoo, which contained explicit sexual conversations involving her daughter and three men. Alarmed by what she found, she immediately contacted the police. The authorities traced the IP addresses associated with two of the suspects to the United States, indicating an international dimension to the case.
