ALAN REES FROM COVENTRY AND HASTINGS JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES

In a significant legal development, Alan Rees, a man with ties to both Coventry and Hastings, has been sentenced to prison for serious historic child sexual offences.

The 59-year-old, who was previously a teacher and is currently residing in Coventry, but formerly lived on Baldslow Road in Hastings, faced justice at Hove Crown Court on Friday, February 3.

Rees was convicted of two counts of indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 16.

These offences are considered historic, meaning they occurred some time ago, but the charges were brought forward after the victim came forward to report the abuse.

The victim initially reported the incidents to the police in 2016, which eventually led to Rees’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.

During the court proceedings, Rees pleaded guilty to the charges at a previous hearing, acknowledging his involvement in the offences.

The court sentenced him to a total of 30 months in prison, reflecting the severity of his actions and the impact on the victim.

In addition to his prison sentence, Rees will be subject to lifelong registration as a sex offender, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent further harm.

Furthermore, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which imposes strict limitations on his access to children and aims to protect the community from potential future offences.

Rees’s case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities to address and penalize historic child sexual abuse, ensuring that offenders are held accountable regardless of the time elapsed since the offences occurred.
