ALAN PEMBERTON SENTENCED IN KENNINGTON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING INTERNET DECEPTION

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Kennington in south London, Alan Pemberton, aged 55, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after admitting to a series of heinous child sex offences. The court heard that Pemberton engaged in manipulative and predatory behavior, including persuading a father to commit acts of sexual abuse against his own two-year-old daughter, and sending explicit images of the abuse.

According to court records, Pemberton, who posed online as a nurse under the alias Holly Chadwick, used the internet to lure and manipulate individuals with unhealthy sexual interests in children. His online activities involved convincing a man to facilitate the sexual assault of his young daughter, promising to connect him with a father willing to allow his teenage daughter to engage in sexual acts. Pemberton’s deception extended further as he encouraged the father to send photographs depicting the abuse.

The man involved in the abuse was subsequently arrested in February 2005 by Wiltshire Police, who then alerted Scotland Yard’s paedophile unit. The father, who had previously been sentenced to three years in prison for his role in the abuse, believed he was communicating with a nurse named Holly Chadwick, unaware of Pemberton’s true intentions.

During the sentencing at London's Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court, Judge Roger Chapple expressed his deep concern over the case, stating that although he had dealt with many cases involving child pornography, he found the images involved in this case to be particularly distressing. The judge emphasized that Pemberton’s role in inciting the abuse was clear, stating, “You, through your plea, can accept the obvious truth that had it not been for your urging, your encouragement, your incitement, these acts would never have taken place.”

Prosecutor Anita Arora highlighted the dangers of online anonymity, explaining that Pemberton used the internet to conceal his identity while seeking out individuals with similar disturbing interests. The court was told that Pemberton’s actions had devastating consequences for the victims and their families.

Defence lawyer Barry Kogan attempted to provide some context, claiming that Pemberton had been trapped in an unhappy and loveless marriage for many years, which led him to seek solace and expression through the internet. The court heard that since his arrest, Pemberton’s marriage of 34 years had ended, and he had become estranged from his two adult sons. Kogan expressed remorse, stating, “He felt he had wrecked his own life and the lives of his family.”

Additional background revealed that in 1997, Pemberton had previously been given a two-year probation order by Croydon magistrates for making nuisance telephone calls to women, including a girl as young as nine and an elderly woman in her 80s. During these calls, he pretended to be a doctor and asked invasive sexual questions, indicating a pattern of disturbing behavior.
