GREENOCK MAN SPARED JAIL AFTER SENDING SEXUAL TEXTS TO TEENS
A GREENOCK man has been spared jail time after he sent two teenage girls messages of a sexual nature.Alan Paterson, 38, was convicted of contacting a girl under the age of 16 between February 2020 and July 2021 from an address on Kingston Street in Port Glasgow.
He was found guilty of sending complainer inappropriate texts and photographs for the purposes of obtaining sexual gratification, or of humiliating, distressing or alarming her.
Paterson also sent similar messages to an older teenager in the period between February 2019 and July 2021.
Sheriff James Spy ordered him to complete 180 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
He was also placed under social work supervision for 18 months, and will remain on the sex offenders’ register during this period.
Sheriff Spy told Paterson this was a direct alternative to a custodial sentence.
