DOMESTIC ABUSER SENTENCED TO PRISON AFTER VIOLENT ASSAULTING EX-GIRLFRIEND
Alan Hall, aged 35 and residing on Walsingham Road, Childwall, has been convicted of domestic assault and stalking after a series of violent incidents against his former partner, Donna Brighouse. The incident in question occurred in August 2023 at a friend's house in St Helens, where Hall was visiting.
During a heated argument, Hall shouted at Ms Brighouse to "show some respect" and physically assaulted her by stamping on her feet, which resulted in her suffering a broken toe and multiple damaged bones in her feet.
He also deliberately stamped on her feet while he shouted, "Yeah, I broke your foot.
You don't like it, do you?".
Ms Brighouse, who had ended their relationship after six weeks due to his aggressive and violent behavior, was distressed by the attack and the psychological harm caused.
CCTV footage showed Hall yelling at her, "I want f***ing you and you know it.
But you're messing with my f***ing head," and then sitting beside her before the assault.
As a result of the injuries, she had to wear a protective walker boot.
Hall's actions led to a guilty plea on charges of stalking and causing grievous bodily harm.
The court heard that Hall had a history of violence, with seven convictions for 11 offenses, many of which involved violence against women and ex-partners.
His case was aggravated by his criminal record and poor compliance with court orders, and the judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison with a seven-year restraining order banning him from contacting Ms Brighouse.
The judge described Hall as dangerous, citing high risk of future harm and previous unsuccessful interventions such as the Building Better Relationships program.
