ALAN FERRIER FROM FORFAR SENTENCED FOR REVENGE PORN THREATS IN SHOCKING CASE

A disturbing case of harassment and threats involving Alan Ferrier, a 63-year-old resident of Viewmount in Forfar, has come to light, revealing a pattern of abusive behavior following a breakup. Ferrier was found to have engaged in a serious offense related to revenge porn threats, which caused significant distress to his former partner.

According to reports, Ferrier’s misconduct began after his relationship with the victim ended last year. Over a period spanning from May 13 to May 14 of the previous year, he persistently sent a series of abusive texts and voicemails, demonstrating a troubling refusal to accept the breakup. His threats escalated to warnings that if she refused to rekindle their relationship physically, he would distribute intimate photographs of her to her friends, family, and colleagues. Such threats are considered highly serious and deeply invasive, causing emotional trauma to the victim.

The victim, visibly shaken and distressed, reported Ferrier’s conduct to the police. When law enforcement officials arrived, they observed her in a state of agitation, trembling as she recounted the harassment. The police investigation confirmed the allegations, leading to Ferrier’s appearance before the court.

At Forfar Sheriff Court, Sheriff Derek Reekie presided over the case. Ferrier admitted to the charges, specifically acknowledging that he had sent abusive messages to his former partner during the specified period. His defense attorney, Michael Boyd, provided context, explaining that Ferrier had been involved in a lengthy relationship with the victim, which she ultimately chose to end. Boyd admitted that Ferrier’s response was inappropriate, as he left unpleasant and threatening messages after the breakup. The defense also highlighted that Ferrier had previously been subject to bail conditions, a Serious Crime Prevention Order, and had been wearing an electronic monitoring tag. Despite these restrictions, Boyd emphasized that Ferrier had maintained good behavior since an unrelated offense in May 2019.

However, Sheriff Reekie did not hold back in condemning Ferrier’s actions. He described the threats as 'utterly vile' and the request as 'grossly offensive.' The sheriff underscored the emotional toll on the victim, noting that she was visibly upset and was calling the police while trembling. In response to the offense, the court ordered Ferrier to pay £300 in compensation to the victim and imposed a fine of £360, with a deadline of 28 days for the payment. The judge also remarked on Ferrier’s problematic record, stating that he should be 'utterly ashamed' of his conduct and emphasizing the seriousness of such behavior in the community.
