COLCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR BEATING WOMAN BLACK AND BLUE
A woman was beaten black and blue with a riding crop after she was attacked by her boyfriend, Alan Bloomfield.
A court heard how Bloomfield, aged 46 from Stalin Road, Colchester, caused serious injuries to Miss Anita Richardson, including bruises, weals all over her body, and a damaged tooth that went through her lip.
The incident occurred after a volatile relationship of four years, both having alcohol problems.
Bloomfield admitted causing actual bodily harm and was jailed for 12 months by Chelmsford Crown Court.
The court was told Bloomfield had no recollection of the incident, claiming he had drunk two litres of vodka in 24 hours.
The judge advised him to use his time in custody to address his alcohol problem, warning he could cause serious harm or kill someone if he does not.
