AIDEN DALY'S SHOCKING CRUELTY IN CHORLEY AND LEYLAND: PET ABUSE AND VIOLENCE REVEALED
Aiden Daly, a man with a troubling criminal history, was involved in a disturbing incident in Chorley and Leyland that has shocked the local community and highlighted ongoing issues of animal cruelty and public disorder. Daly, born around 1996 and residing on Seymour Street in Chorley, was previously convicted in 2018 for a separate violent offence but continued to engage in unlawful and violent behavior. In January 2018, Daly received a 16-month jail sentence, which was suspended for two years, after he pleaded guilty to an affray that occurred in May 2017. During that incident, he brandished a machete at Jordan Reynolds, an act that drew significant attention and concern from local authorities and residents alike. Despite this conviction, Daly's pattern of aggressive conduct persisted.
Just over a month after his suspended sentence, Daly was involved in another troubling episode that took place outside a shop in Leyland. On this occasion, he targeted Jordan Reynolds once again, but this time his actions extended beyond mere threats or violence towards a person. Daly was seen causing unnecessary suffering to Reynolds' pet dog, an act that drew condemnation from animal welfare advocates and the community.
According to court reports, Daly, who by the age of 21 had accumulated an extensive criminal record with 25 convictions for 44 offences since 2009, admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to the dog, which is considered a serious public order offence. He also breached the terms of his previous suspended sentence, further complicating his legal situation.
Prosecutor Paul Cummings explained that at the time of the incident in February, Daly was outside a McColl’s store in Leyland. He observed Reynolds tying up his dog before entering the shop. Daly claimed that he had been staring at him and that this made him upset. Despite knowing that the dog could be aggressive, having been bitten by it previously, Daly chose to kick the animal. When Reynolds exited the shop, Daly reportedly challenged him, saying, “Kick the dog again and see what happens.”
A violent altercation ensued on the pavement outside the store, culminating in Daly repeatedly kicking the dog after the fight had subsided. Witnesses described a scuffle on the street before Daly walked away from the scene, still displaying aggressive behavior.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Daly, who is under supervision, displayed a dismissive attitude towards probation officers. He smirked when they attempted to assist him and openly stated, “Probation makes me laugh.” The seriousness of his actions and attitude was underscored by the judge, Recorder David Swinnerton, who condemned Daly’s ongoing pattern of criminality.
Addressing Daly directly, the judge highlighted his extensive criminal record, which includes 25 convictions for 44 offences since 2009. He pointed out that Daly was already breaching his previous orders and had offended against the same individual, Jordan Reynolds. In light of his repeated misconduct and the severity of his latest offences, the court sentenced Daly to 19 months in prison, emphasizing the need for accountability and the protection of the community from such violent and cruel behavior.
