AHMAD MAHMOOD SENTENCED IN ROCHDALE FOR REPEATED ABUSES AND VIOLATIONS

In a case that has drawn significant attention in Rochdale, Ahmad Mahmood, a 30-year-old man residing in the town, has been sentenced to serve two years in prison following a series of aggressive and controlling behaviors directed towards his partner. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of violence and psychological abuse that spanned at least three years, during which Mahmood repeatedly assaulted his partner physically and subjected her to ongoing emotional torment.

Despite having previously served a five-month jail term in June 2015 for five separate assaults and being subject to a restraining order, Mahmood continued to breach these legal restrictions. His violations included making threats to kill his partner, which further underscored his persistent disregard for the law and her safety. Evidence presented in court also detailed how Mahmood maintained his harassment even while incarcerated, sending threatening letters under a pseudonym to intimidate her and maintain control.

The victim described Mahmood as 'very controlling,' emphasizing how he dictated her social interactions and instilled a constant sense of fear. Her testimony painted a picture of a man who was relentless in his abusive conduct, which included eight breaches of the restraining order, as well as incidents of common assault and driving while disqualified from holding a license.

The case was heard at Minshull Street Crown Court, where the judge sentenced Mahmood to two years in prison, reflecting the severity and persistence of his offenses. Court records also revealed that, although Mahmood has a wife in his homeland, he was involved in a four-year relationship with the victim, with whom he shared two children. The court highlighted his ongoing violations and abusive behavior as key factors leading to his imprisonment, emphasizing the need to protect victims from such persistent threats and violence.
