TELFORD GROOMING GANG MEMBER JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION
Ahdel Ali, 25, known as Eddie, was handed a 26-year extended sentence — comprising 18 years of immediate custody plus an additional eight years on licence after release. He was a leading figure in the case, involved in controlling child prostitution and trafficking offences.
He was convicted of seven offences, including controlling child prostitution, causing child prostitution, and trafficking in the UK for the purpose of prostitution, involving two victims.
Both Ahdel and his brother Mubarek Ali were subjected to lifelong Sexual Offences Prevention Orders.
The case details were revealed during a lengthy trial, where the judge upheld the convictions based on the disturbing evidence presented, which included the systematic grooming and exploitation of teenage girls between 2007 and 2009.
The investigation into the abuse was part of Operation Chalice, one of the most complex police operations carried out by West Mercia Police, involving over 50 officers over several years.
The victims, aged 13 to 16 at the time, showed remarkable strength in giving evidence during the trial.
Authorities highlighted that the abuse was perpetrated by members of the Muslim community in Telford, targeting vulnerable girls for sexual exploitation.
