ADRIAN BEALES FROM ST HELENS SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON CHILD IN LIVERPOOL
In June 2020, a disturbing case unfolded involving a man from St Helens who was convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl.Adrian Beales, aged 46, found himself at the center of a serious criminal proceeding after the incident came to light.
The court was told that Beales had touched the girl both under and over her clothing, an act that led to his arrest and subsequent charges.
During the investigation and subsequent court proceedings, Beales initially responded to the allegations with a dismissive remark, claiming, “I only touched her,” when confronted.
However, as the situation progressed, he appeared visibly shocked and admitted to the offence, expressing remorse by saying, “I’m sorry,” and pleading, “I can’t go to jail.” Prosecutor Jane Morris outlined that Beales was charged specifically with the sexual assault of a child under 13.
The court heard that the assault involved inappropriate touching of the young girl, which was both over and under her clothing.
In a police interview, Beales admitted to the offence and expressed feelings of shame about his actions.
Beales, who resides on Peterlee Close in St Helens, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court to face justice.
The hearing was presided over by Judge Gary Woodhall.
Although the charge was initially for a single incident, the court was made aware of two additional instances where Beales had touched the girl over her clothing.
Despite this, due to the way the charges were formally brought, the court could only impose a sentence based on the most serious incident.
It was noted during the proceedings that Beales had no prior convictions and was considered to be of good character before this offence.
Nevertheless, the gravity of the crime warranted a significant penalty.
Judge Woodhall sentenced Beales to three years in prison.
The sentence was structured so that Beales would serve half of it in custody, with the remaining half on licence, subject to supervision and conditions.
In addition to his prison term, Beales was subjected to a Sexual Harm and Prevention Order, which will remain in effect for ten years.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions aimed at protecting the community from any future harm.
