COUNTY DURHAM MAN JAILED FOR VICIOUS ASSAULT ON PARTNER
A bully rendered his partner unconscious after he stamped on her head during a vicious attack.A man named Adam Taylor, aged 30, had been out drinking with his partner before an argument unfolded upon returning to a home in Seaham.
During this incident, Taylor grabbed his partner by the hair, threw her to the ground, and then stamped on her face, leaving her "out cold".
The assault was so severe that a witness heard the noise and saw Taylor briefly return to the scene.
The witness then saw Taylor attempting to lift the woman, who did not want to go with him, before he left and the police were called.
The attack was captured on CCTV.
The woman sustained a sore head and chest but did not seek medical treatment.
However, she later withdrew her cooperation for the investigation and remains in a relationship with Taylor, who appeared in court in her support.
Adam Taylor, of Brooklyn Street, Murton, faced charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He pleaded guilty at a previous hearing and was sentenced to 20 months in jail by Judge Jo Kidd, who described the attack as "callous" and the behavior as "thoroughly aggressive".
The judge also noted that Taylor's behavior was bullying and violent, with the violence being deliberate and intentional.
Taylor has a significant criminal history, with 45 previous convictions including battery and assault.
His lawyer, Jennifer Coxon, acknowledged his past convictions and mentioned his mental health issues, which have left him out of work.
The court heard that Taylor's partner was supportive of him despite the incident, and it was reportedly the first physical altercation between them.
