MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AT NIGHTCLUB
2019.A man who committed sexual assault on a dance floor has been sentenced to prison after causing distress and trauma to a 19-year-old woman.
Adam Skinner did not know the victim when he approached her in Exeter’s Fever and Boutique nightclub, pulling her towards him before placing his hand up her skirt.
He touched her intimate areas on two different occasions, and during the second incident, his forcefulness caused her to fall while she attempted to escape.
The incidents were observed by a security staff member, who attempted to remove Skinner from the premises.
In response, he punched the staff member in the face.
Skinner continued to resist, struggling with another bouncer, and spat at and tried to bite her.
He had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol mixed with cocaine, which left him with little memory of his actions until police showed him CCTV footage.
Despite this, he denied the full extent of his behavior, forcing the victim to give evidence at Exeter Crown Court last month.
The young woman described the assault as devastating, saying it not only spoiled her night but also had a profound impact on her life.
She added that attending court was the most difficult day she had experienced.
Skinner, 33, of Sandford Walk in Exeter, was charged with sexual assault by penetration, which he denied but was ultimately convicted of.
He did admit to assaulting the two security personnel.
The judge, David Evans, sentenced him to two years and four months in jail and ordered him to register as a sex offender for ten years.
