CLACTON MAN SENTENCED FOR SENDING SEXUAL MESSAGES TO KIDS
A Clacton man named Adam Scriven, aged 25, has been sentenced for attempting to send sexual messages to children. He faced two charges of trying to engage in sexual communication with a child, which occurred in 2023.
It was revealed that he was caught by his partner while using Snapchat, attempting to delete messages which numbered around 13.
His chat partners, who have not been publicly identified, stated they were aged 11 and 12.
The court heard that these messages, sent in March of the previous year, were sexual in nature and that Scriven had posed as a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old during these interactions.
The court heard he felt 'lonely and bored', which he cited as reasons for his actions.
After being discovered, and following his arrest and subsequent reporting by his partner to the police, Scriven left his family home, his young son, and lost his job.
He admitted to the offenses.
The judge, Daniel Sawyer, described his actions as 'troubling to read' and emphasized that Scriven had deliberately sought out young girls.
His sentence consisted of eight months in prison, suspended for 24 months, along with requirements to participate in an accredited program and 30 days of rehabilitation activity.
Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order lasting ten years was imposed, deemed necessary and proportionate to prevent further offenses.
