WIRRAL MAN ADAM SCAIFE JAILED FOR DOWNLOADS OF 40,000 INDECENT IMAGES AND ONLINE SEX OFFENCES

In October 2011, Adam Scaife, a 29-year-old resident of Hoylake, Wirral, was sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to downloading approximately 40,000 indecent images and engaging in depraved online sex chats.

At the time of his offences, Scaife was already on bail for a child sex crime and related child pornography charges. Judge David Swift described him as a significant risk to children, stating, “I consider you represent a significant risk of serious harm to children as a consequence of your underlying interest in young children.” The judge further noted that Scaife’s online fantasies, which included child rape, were “depraved.”

Scaife pleaded guilty to several charges, including engaging in sexual activity in front of a child, making 20 indecent photographs, and possessing an extreme pornographic image.

Prosecutor David Evans recounted that on February 16, 2010, the victim, a girl, observed him viewing pictures “of naked ladies.” Following this, Scaife stripped naked and performed a sex act in her presence. After his adoptive parents became aware of the incident, they referred him to a doctor; however, concerned about the situation, they also contacted police.

On March 12, police executed a raid at his home and found 18,092 indecent photographs and 48 movies. Subsequently, while on bail, Scaife’s home was raided again on March 8, revealing a further 22,532 images, bringing the total to around 40,000 indecent images uncovered.
