ADAM PERCY CAUGHT IN UXBRIDGE BY SCORPION HUNTERS FOR GROOMING PLOT

In July 2019, a disturbing case unfolded in Uxbridge involving Adam Percy, a 32-year-old man who was caught in a sting operation conducted by the online paedophile hunting group known as ‘Scorpion Hunters’. Percy’s actions, which took place in the context of a serious grooming attempt, led to his appearance at Isleworth Crown Court where he faced multiple charges related to his online conduct.

During the court proceedings, Percy admitted to engaging in an attempt to communicate sexually with a minor. Specifically, he pleaded guilty to attempting to initiate sexual conversations with an individual he believed to be an 11-year-old girl. The court was informed that Percy had made contact through an online profile, believing he was speaking with a young girl, but in reality, he was communicating with an adult member of the ‘Scorpion Hunters’ team, who posed as a child to catch predators.

Evidence presented in court revealed that Percy had sent highly sexualized messages, clearly aimed at grooming the supposed child for sexual activity. Among the disturbing messages, Percy explicitly expressed his desire to engage in anal sexual intercourse with the girl. Additionally, he edited images of the girl with the words “I love you” written on them and then sent these altered pictures back to her, further demonstrating his intent to manipulate and exploit.

It was made clear that the individual Percy believed he was communicating with was not a real child but an adult member of the ‘Scorpion Hunters’ team, who had set up the profile to catch predators like Percy. The team members confronted Percy during the operation, questioning him about his online activity and intentions. Following this confrontation, a team member contacted the police, and Percy was promptly arrested at the scene.

In sentencing, the judge imposed an eight-month prison sentence, which was suspended for eighteen months, meaning Percy would not serve time unless he committed further offenses within that period. The court also mandated that Percy complete a Horizon rehabilitation programme designed for medium-risk sex offenders. Additionally, Percy was subject to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and was required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from potential future harm.
