PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS FOR ABUSING CHILDREN
Adam McLaughlan, aged 34 and from Penkridge, was handed a sentence at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday (6 January) after being convicted of 14 counts of sexual assault against a young girl. The abuse took place over several years in Staffordshire before the victims came forward to share their experiences.
Our public protection unit (PPU) worked diligently to support the victims and gather the evidence necessary to bring multiple charges against McLaughlan.
During an earlier court appearance, he denied all allegations.
However, thanks to a thorough investigation and the courage shown by the survivors, the jury found him guilty on 14 counts.
In addition to his sentence, McLaughlan was issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), added to the Sex Offenders Register, and ordered to stay away from the victims through a restraining order.
