ADAM BOJKOWSKI FROM CREDITON AND EXETER CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Crediton and Exeter, a factory worker named Adam Bojkowski has been found guilty of possessing a significant number of indecent images of children.The incident came to light in November 2016 when Bojkowski, aged 39 and residing on Park Street in Crediton, was brought before Exeter Crown Court to face serious charges related to child exploitation.
According to court records, Bojkowski was discovered to have accumulated approximately 1,800 images depicting child abuse on his personal computer.
The investigation revealed that he had developed an unhealthy fascination with a genre of explicit Japanese cartoons known as hentai.
Many of these images portrayed scenes involving dominant older women with very young children, which raised grave concerns among law enforcement officials.
The police action was initiated after Bojkowski inadvertently uploaded these illegal images onto his Google Plus account, unaware of their illicit nature.
This mistake led to a police raid on his residence in Exeter in December of the previous year.
During the search, authorities seized his computers and other electronic devices, uncovering a vast collection of images.
Some of these cartoons depicted children as young as four years old being subjected to abuse, a fact that significantly contributed to the severity of the case.
Prosecutor James Taghdissian explained that the police found not only the cartoons but also thousands of adult images stored on Bojkowski’s devices.
Bojkowski claimed during police interviews that he was unaware that the cartoons were illegal and that he had uploaded them alongside personal photographs, believing them to be harmless.
He admitted to downloading many of these images from a peer-to-peer sharing service called e-mule, citing an interest in comics as his motivation.
The images were stored in files with suggestive names such as MILFs, a term used to describe attractive older women, as well as Manga and Hentai, which are categories of Japanese animation.
Despite Bojkowski’s assertions that he had no interest in children, the court and probation service expressed skepticism about his explanations, highlighting the large number of images involving minors.
Defending Bojkowski, lawyer Lee Bremridge emphasized that his client had no prior criminal record and was employed at a factory in Sowton, Exeter.
He urged the court to consider the low risk assessment provided by a probation report and recommended that Bojkowski undergo one-on-one treatment with the probation service.
In sentencing, the judge, Recorder Adam Feest QC, ordered Bojkowski to undertake sex offender treatment as part of a two-year community order.
Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed, granting authorities the authority to monitor his future internet activity closely.
The judge also overturned a previous magistrates’ order that had kept Bojkowski’s identity anonymous, citing the importance of transparency given the nature of his offenses.
